Terms of Service
1. The service
Whaat connects to your WhatsApp number and automatically translates the messages you receive into the language you choose. Whoever writes to you may use any language we support. Translations are produced by an automated system and delivered into the same conversation.
2. What you're responsible for
- Your WhatsApp account. You must own or be authorised to operate the number you connect, and you remain responsible for complying with Meta's WhatsApp Business Messaging Policy and Commerce Policy.
- Telling the other person. Whaat sends a one-time notice that the conversation is automatically translated. If you turn that notice off, disclosing automated handling becomes your responsibility.
- Your data protection duties. Where you use Whaat for a business, you are the data controller for the messages your customers send you, and we process them on your instructions under a data processing agreement available on request.
- Lawful use. No spam, no unsolicited bulk messaging, nothing illegal.
3. Translation quality
Translations are machine-generated. They will occasionally be wrong, and mistakes matter more in some conversations than others. You should not rely on Whaat alone for medical, legal, financial or safety-critical communication. The service is provided as-is and we do not warrant that any translation is accurate, complete, or fit for a particular purpose.
4. How personal numbers are connected, and the risk to your number
On personal plans, Whaat connects to your WhatsApp as a linked device, the same way WhatsApp Web does, using software that is not an official WhatsApp product and is not endorsed by WhatsApp or Meta. WhatsApp's terms do not permit unofficial clients. WhatsApp may therefore restrict, suspend or permanently ban a number connected this way, at its own discretion and without notice to you or to us.
- By connecting a number you confirm that you understand and accept this risk. Connect only a number you are willing to risk.
- We are not responsible for, and will not compensate you for, any restriction, suspension or ban of your number or WhatsApp account by WhatsApp or Meta, or for any resulting loss โ including loss of access to the number, its contacts, messages, groups or chat history, or of business or income.
- We recommend turning on WhatsApp's chat backup before you connect.
- You can disconnect Whaat at any time from WhatsApp โ Settings โ Linked devices.
5. Plans, usage and fees
| Plan | Price / month | Conversations included |
|---|---|---|
| Personal | $4.88 | 200 |
| Pro (personal) | $15 | 400 |
| Unlimited (personal) | $39 | Unlimited, fair use 1,500 |
| Starter (business) | $39 | 500 |
| Pro (business) | $89 | 1,500 |
| Business | $179 | Unlimited, fair use 5,000 |
- A conversation is one person over a 24-hour window, however many messages it contains. This is the same unit Meta bills on.
- Fees are in US dollars, billed monthly in advance.
- Launch offer: accounts created on or before 30 September 2026 (Colombia time) get 50% off their first two paid months on any plan, applied automatically at checkout. It can't be combined with other discounts and has no cash value.
- New accounts start with a 15-day free trial. No card is required to begin. When the trial ends, translation stops until a plan is chosen.
- Meta may charge you separately for WhatsApp conversations on your own account. Those charges are not included here. Replying to someone who messaged you first currently carries no Meta fee.
- Going over your allowance does not interrupt the service โ we will contact you about a larger plan. If usage reaches twice your allowance we may pause translation until the plan is upgraded or the period resets.
- Unlimited plans carry a fair-use ceiling, shown above. It sits far beyond normal use and exists to stop runaway or automated traffic, not to limit a heavy user.
- We may change prices with 30 days' notice.
6. Availability
We aim for high availability but do not commit to a service level. Whaat depends on Meta, Anthropic, Vercel, Supabase and Hetzner; an outage at any of them can interrupt the service. Messages sent to your number during an outage are still delivered to you by WhatsApp โ they simply are not translated.
7. Payment failure and suspension
If a payment fails we keep translating for 7 days while you fix it, because cutting a conversation off mid-sentence penalises the person on the other end rather than you. After that, translation stops until payment succeeds. We may also suspend the service if the account is used in breach of section 2, or if we are required to by Meta or by law.
8. Cancellation
You may cancel at any time from your account page or through the billing portal, effective at the end of the current billing period. On cancellation we delete your configuration and stored credentials within 30 days. Prepaid fees for the current period are not refunded.
9. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to these terms is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including lost profits or lost business, for the consequences of an inaccurate translation, or for any action WhatsApp or Meta takes against your number or account (see section 4).
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws rules, and the courts located there have exclusive jurisdiction.
11. Changes
We may update these terms and will post the new version here with an updated date. If a change is material we will tell subscribers directly before it takes effect.
